Shari

October 23, 2009

From the day before yesterday, annual Cultural Festival has begun in our varsity. The last festival was held in 2002, just 7 years ago from now. So there are a lot of excitations and amusements among students. To prepare the festival, students worked for late night including ladies. It’s usually not very common for our varsity, because most of the time we have to be very busy with labs, assignments, exams etc.

There is another problem. The ratio of boys and girls in our varsity is about 10 : 1. ( so poor!! :( ). So we are bound to see almost the same faces in every cultural show. Whatever, we are quite accustomed with it :-( ………..

But for today my point of view is very different. The opening ceremony which was followed by Mahmud Faisal’s presentation was a great one. I was nearly alone, sitting in the auditorium just before the ceremony observing the works of volunteers. There were about seven or eight ladies (students) flying inside the auditorium ! They all were wearing Shari. I was just staring at them how gorgeous they were looked in Shari !!! (though i did not find any specialty among them before that :P ).

Shari is our national dress for ladies. I found my mother (MA, B Ed, Rajshahi University) went to her varsity classes wearing Shari. So to me, Shari is like warmth of Mother :D . I also found my granny with Shari always. I also like to see my Dino in Shari in most of the special days like anniversary, birthdays, valentines’ etc. I found her like an cute angel in Shari ;-)

We all are now stuck by that culture which is not our own. It’s true, cultural exchange is now a common matter in  this global village. but we have some special cultural identity. We have to go through them……..

If the girls were knew, how sweet they are looked in shari…………  !!!

Time is
Too poor for those who wait
Too short for those who fear
To long for those who grieve
Too short for those who rejoice
But for those who love,
Time is eternity.
Hours fly,
Flowers die,
New days,
New ways,
Pass by.
Love stays.
